Elite Eyecare is searching to find a team member to fill the role of Optometric Optician in our clinic. We are looking for a friendly, stylish, hard working candidate to join our family and help our patients find their confidence and leave our office looking their best in a perfect new pair of glasses!

Overview

Experience is preferred, but we provide training courses that benefit both new and veteran Optometric Opticians. Training will be provided to the right candidate who is a fast learner, has a great and upbeat personality, and takes constructive criticism.

Ideal candidates get along well with others, have a helpful heart, and a passion for eyewear! We need an excellent communicator, mature, patient candidate. Our ideal candidate is polite, kind and compassionate. They have excellent attention to detail, are well spoken and good listeners. The candidate must have willingness to continue to learn about the eyecare industry, emerging technology, optical products and services throughout their career. They must have exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills. The candidate needs to be proficient in critical thinking for identifying problems and resolutions, organized and be good with time management. They must be punctual, be able to multitask, be polished and have professional demeanor. Our optician needs to be a people person and connect with people easily and quickly.

Typical Functions/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Greet patients upon arrival
  • Answer phone, schedule appointments, patient check in
  • Provide benefits/insurance counseling. Verify and file vision insurance claims
  • Collaborate with doctor and other team members to provide seamless patient experience, help additional staff
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges
  • Sell optical goods including prescription glasses, plano sunglasses, and contact lenses
  • Propose eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens coatings after considering prescription and patient's occupation, habits, and facial features
  • Measure clients' eyes, including distance between centers of pupils, bridge and eye size, and temple length of glasses
  • Educate patients on different types of lenses
  • Educate patients in adapting to, wearing, and caring for eyeglasses and/or contact lenses. Especially first-timers
  • Compute the amount of sale and collect payment for services
  • Check in jobs for accuracy using lensometer or lens analyzer
  • Miscellaneous repairs
  • Troubleshoot when patient is not able to adapt to new glasses prescription
  • Open and close cash registers, count money, balance cash drawers and make deposits
  • Submit ophthalmic laboratory information
  • Do inventory, ordering, sending and receiving shipments
  • All other duties as assigned
  • High School Diploma Required
  • Job Type: Part-Time, Monday - Friday and Weekend Availability.

**As a small practice - our employees will be cross-trained to assist in all positions of the office when needed**

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
