<Duties>

• Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses that meet their prescription needs and lifestyle preferences
• Measure and verify patient prescriptions using optical equipment and ensure proper fitting of eyewear
• Perform laboratory tasks such as lens edging, mounting, and adjustments to ensure precise fit and comfort
• Educate patients on lens options, frame styles, proper care, and maintenance of eyewear products
• Maintain accurate medical records and document patient interactions following HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
• Support the optical team with inventory management, ordering supplies, and retail sales activities
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care, including understanding ophthalmology reports and medical terminology
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or EMR systems to update patient information efficiently
• Conduct basic vision screenings, including vital signs when necessary, especially for senior or pediatric patients
• Uphold aseptic techniques during laboratory procedures to maintain a sterile environment

<Skills>

• Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health
• Experience with optical equipment such as phoropters, lensometers, and lab tools for lens fabrication
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
• Retail sales experience combined with retail math skills to drive product sales while providing excellent customer service
• Laboratory experience in lens edging, mounting, or similar technical tasks is highly desirable
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care clients
• Proficiency in medical billing and coding related to optical services when applicable
• Knowledge of EMR systems like Epic or other clinic management software for seamless documentation
• Understanding of medical records management and clinic experience is a plus
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
