Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in selecting eyewear, providing expert advice on frames, lenses, and lens coatings based on individual needs and prescriptions
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including measuring vital signs relevant to vision health and understanding patient medical histories
- Prepare and process optical prescriptions using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support the laboratory team by performing lens edging, mounting, and quality checks using aseptic techniques to ensure precision and safety
- Maintain detailed medical records related to vision care, including documentation of medical coding and billing for insurance purposes
- Educate patients on eye health topics such as physiology, anatomy of the eye, and the importance of regular check-ups, especially for pediatrics and senior care populations
- Manage retail sales transactions efficiently while applying retail math skills to meet sales goals and optimize inventory management
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy of the eye, and physiology relevant to vision care
- Experience with optical equipment, lab procedures, and EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to eye health, medical billing, HIPAA compliance, and medical coding practices
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive sales approach in retail environments
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and understand clinic experience requirements for diverse patient groups including pediatrics and seniors
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques necessary for laboratory work to ensure safety and quality standards are met
- Retail management experience or retail math proficiency to support sales targets and inventory control
