Job Summary
At Jackman Eye, we don’t just fill positions — we build careers and develop future leaders.
We are seeking an Optical Specialist Career Trainee to join our Dream Team. This is a paid, growth-focused opportunity designed for individuals who embody accountability, bring a joyful disposition to their work, pursue excellence in every detail, and take ownership of their professional development.
You will begin by mastering the technical foundations of optical laboratory work and progressively advance into frame styling, patient care, and sales expertise. This structured training path blends clinical knowledge with retail excellence, preparing you to confidently serve patients across all our specialties.
If you are motivated, coachable, and ready to take an ownership toward your career, this is your opportunity to grow within a high-performing, values-driven practice.
What You’ll Do
Deliver Joyful, Elevated Patient Experiences
- Assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, ensuring optimal comfort, function, and style after lab & technical training
- Create a welcoming, positive environment that reflects our commitment to exceptional service
- Educate patients on eye health, lens options, and proper eyewear care with clarity and confidence
Commit to Technical Excellence
- Operate laboratory equipment to craft and adjust lenses with precision and care
- Support Optometrists by translating prescribed glasses prescriptions into customized eyewear solutions
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR systems (such as CrystalPM), ensuring HIPAA compliance and meticulous documentation
Support Growth & Business Performance with Owner Mentality
- Promote optical products, accessories, and premium lens options ethically and confidently
- Apply retail math skills for pricing, inventory management, and transactions
- Collaborate with team members on medical coding, billing processes, and optometry-related documentation
- Take accountability for results, continuous improvement, and personal development
Work as Part of a True Dream Team
- Collaborate with senior staff and providers in a supportive, high-performance environment
- Contribute ideas and solutions that elevate patient care and team efficiency
- Hold yourself and others to a standard of excellence while maintaining a joyful, team-first attitude
Skills & Qualifications
No prior optical experience required — we provide comprehensive training. We’re looking for the right mindset and character.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Demonstrate strong accountability and follow through on responsibilities
- Bring a joyful, positive attitude to team and patient interactions
- Take pride in doing detailed work accurately and efficiently
- Are coachable and eager to learn technical and clinical skills
- Communicate clearly and confidently with patients and team members
- Are comfortable working with your hands and learning technical lab procedures
- Have strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Are motivated by personal growth and professional development
- Take initiative and approach your role with an owner mentality
Preferred but not required:
- Background in customer service, retail, healthcare, or hands-on technical work
- Interest in healthcare and fashion
Who Thrives Here
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Brings positive energy and a joyful presence to every interaction
- Cares deeply about doing things the right way — not the easy way
- Wants to grow into a highly skilled optical professional
- Values being part of a Dream Team over simply having a job
At Jackman Eye, excellence isn’t optional — it’s our standard.
