Optician Technician

Job Summary
The Optician & Technician will assist optometrists in clinical and optical tasks, provide expert guidance to patients on eyewear and lens options, and ensure efficient operation of the optical dispensary. This role combines patient interaction, technical skill, and attention to detail.

Duties

• Prepare patients for eye examinations by measuring visual acuity and recording medical history accurately.
• Assist with fitting and adjusting eyewear, including selecting lenses and frames based on patient needs and prescriptions.
• Operate and maintain optical equipment such as phoropters, autorefractors, and laboratory devices to ensure precise measurements.
• Manage patient records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
• Educate patients on eyewear options, lens features, and proper care techniques while promoting retail sales of glasses and accessories.
• Maintain a clean environment to ensure safety during all procedures.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health.
• Experience working with EMR systems; familiarity with medical records management is essential.
• Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care populations.
• Retail management experience combined with retail math skills to support sales initiatives effectively.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
