Optician/Sales Associate

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Optical Sales Associate/ Optical Assistant. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, detail oriented, providing exceptional patient care while ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. This role involves working closely with patients to assess their visual needs, fitting and dispensing eyewear, and maintaining accurate medical records. We are willing to train the right person.

Responsibilities

• Fit and dispense eyeglasses and contact lenses based on prescriptions.
• Provide education to patients regarding eyewear options, proper care, and usage.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
• Utilize EMR systems for accurate documentation of patient records and appointments.
• Verify/Bill and explain insurance eligibility for eyewear and contact lenses.
• Assist in retail sales by promoting optical products and services effectively.
• Manage inventory of optical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability for patient needs.
• Provide exceptional customer service in a fast paced environment.

Experience
Candidates should have experience or familiarity with the following areas but not required:

• Medical terminology related to eye care.
• Retail sales experience, particularly in the optical.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and vital signs relevant to eye health.
• Experience using EMR systems such as Officemate is advantageous.

Qualifications:

• Bilingual (Spanish Preferred)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to learn quick and multitask
• Strong basic math skills
• Prior optical experience is a plus, but not required (training provided)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Projected Total Compensation: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
