Optometric assistant/Optical assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant/Optical Assistant to join our dynamic eye care team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional patient care while supporting the clinical and administrative functions of our practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in optometric office procedures, optical experience, and combined with excellent communication skills and a passion for helping patients achieve optimal vision health. This paid position is integral to ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering outstanding service to our diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Assist optometrists with patient intake, including gathering medical history and verifying insurance information, ensuring a seamless patient experience.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems, including Revolution accurately documenting patient information and clinical notes.
  • Support optical services by assisting with frame selection, lens measurements, and retail sales, ensuring patients find suitable eyewear options.
  • Handle front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and managing medical records efficiently.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Contribute to clinic operations by performing medical coding and billing tasks related to optometry.
  • Support the team with inventory management of optical supplies, ensuring stock levels meet daily operational needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to optometry to effectively communicate with patients and team members Requirements
  • Prior experience in a medical office setting or optometry office clinic is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of patient care protocols, HIPAA compliance, and medical records management.
  • Knowledge of optical procedures including frame fitting, lens measurements, and retail sales techniques.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Revolution or similar platforms for documentation purposes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in record-keeping and appointment scheduling.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
  • Knowledge of medical billing, coding practices, and insurance procedures related to optometry is advantageous.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
