Duties

  • Assist patients during intake processes by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records using EMR systems such as Epic.
  • Measure and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and oxygen saturation to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Prepare patients for eye examinations or medical procedures by applying aseptic techniques and ensuring a clean, safe environment.
  • Support ophthalmology services by performing basic optical tasks such as lens measurements, patient education on eyewear options, and assisting with optical equipment setup.
  • Manage front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and maintaining organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Conduct patient care activities such as taking vital signs, assisting with medication administration under supervision, and providing compassionate support throughout visits.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation of medical coding and billing processes for efficient revenue cycle management.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment is highly preferred; familiarity with Epic or other EMR systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmology concepts to accurately assist with patient care.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience with intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and basic clinical skills such as aseptic technique.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for front desk interactions, patient education, and team collaboration.
