Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the optometrist to provide exceptional patient care and support during eye examinations. Your responsibilities will include preparing patients for exams, assisting with various diagnostic tests, and ensuring that all medical records are accurately maintained. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and a passion for helping others.
Duties
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by taking medical histories.
- Assist optometrists with various diagnostic tests and procedures, including visual field tests and retinal imaging.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on contact lens care, eyewear options, and post-examination instructions.
- Manage patient flow in the office to ensure efficient operations.
- Handle sales of eyewear products and assist patients in selecting frames that meet their needs.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical records.
- Stay updated on advancements in patient care.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is preferred.
- Experience in a medical office setting is a plus, particularly within optometry.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining medical records.
- Ability to perform basic medical coding related to patient care services.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and team members.
- Previous experience in patient care or sales is advantageous.
