Optometric Technician

Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician / Receptionist, where your enthusiasm and attention to detail will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care experiences. In this multifaceted position, you will be the friendly face greeting patients, managing their intake, and assisting with vital signs and preliminary assessments. Your expertise will support our optometrists by preparing patients for exams, ensuring accurate medical records, and maintaining a smooth clinic flow. Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients warmly and efficiently manage the front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information.
  • Conduct patient intake by gathering comprehensive medical histories and updating electronic medical records (EMR) systems with accuracy.
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to assist in the diagnostic process.
  • Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests, including refraction checks and basic vision assessments.
  • Maintain aseptic technique during clinical procedures to ensure patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with optical tasks such as lens measurements, frame adjustments, and retail sales of eyewear products.
  • Support ophthalmology-related procedures by understanding medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic equipment operation.
  • Manage medical records meticulously, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards while utilizing EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms.
  • Handle retail math accurately during sales transactions and promote available eyewear options to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the clinical team to ensure efficient clinic operations and excellent patient care experiences.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred but we will gladly train the right candidate.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and ophthalmology procedures is essential.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms.
  • Background in medical billing and coding practices is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Retail sales experience combined with strong front desk skills will support your success in this role.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive patient information.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
