Optometric Technician – Private Practice (Allen, TX)

We are looking for a detail-oriented, reliable Optometric Technician who enjoys working with people and wants to be part of a collaborative healthcare team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced clinical setting and takes pride in delivering excellent patient experiences.
What You'll Do:
As an Optometric Technician, you will work closely with our doctors to ensure patients receive thorough, efficient care.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform preliminary testing including visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, color vision, depth perception, and visual fields
- Perform advanced diagnostic testing such as Optomap retinal imaging, OCT, corneal topography, fundus photography, and dry eye testing
- Accurately collect and document patient medical and ocular history in the electronic health record
- Prepare patients for examination and assist doctors during clinical procedures
- Educate patients on contact lens care, treatment plans, and recommended testing
- Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and ensure diagnostic equipment is functioning properly
- Assist with contact lens training and insertion/removal instruction
- Provide support to the optical team when needed (frame styling, adjustments, basic repairs)
- Assist with front desk responsibilities including scheduling, verifying insurance, and answering phones/texts when needed
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain strict patient confidentiality
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician, Ophthalmic Technician, or Medical Assistant in an eye care setting preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinic
- Friendly, professional communication skills and a strong commitment to patient care
- Comfortable using computers and electronic medical records
- Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy
- Team-oriented mindset with willingness to help where needed
