Optometric Technician

What you’ll do

• Conduct patient intake procedures, including gathering medical history and vital signs
• Assist in performing eye examinations and diagnostic tests using specialized equipment
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options
• Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including Epic, for documentation and scheduling
• Collaborate with optometrists to provide comprehensive patient care
• Support front desk operations, including appointment scheduling and retail sales assistance

Basic qualifications

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Experience in a medical office or clinic setting, preferably in optometry or ophthalmology

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with optical products and retail math principles
• Background in pediatrics or experience working with children is a plus
• Proficiency in medical coding and billing practices
