Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometry Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the optometric practice. You will assist the optometrist in various clinical tasks while ensuring a smooth operation of the office environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about eye care and committed to enhancing the patient experience. We are willing to train the right person to join our team!

Duties

  • Conduct preliminary eye exams, including measuring visual acuity and performing additional basic tests to assess vision.
  • Gather and maintain accurate patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits.
  • Document patient information accurately in EHR system (electronic health records).
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment is clean and functioning properly.
  • Provide support during examinations, including assisting with specialized equipment.
  • Educate patients on contact lens care, eyewear options, and post-examination instructions.
  • Collaborate with the optometrist to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
  • Performs other duties within the practice as requested and as time allows, and maybe required to cross train in other departments.
  • Work inconjunction with other team members ensuring patient's receive the highest level of care for their entire visit.

Skills

  • Highest level of professionalism in both appearance and comunication skills.
  • Strong understanding of patient care principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and visual system.
  • May be required to schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists, Diagnostic follow-up visits, and other specialty referrals, and complete appropriate paperwork
  • Experience managing medical records while adhering to HIPAA standards.
  • Familiarity with front desk operations in a medical or retail setting.
  • Basic knowledge of retail math for processing transactions effectively.
  • Understanding of medical coding practices as they relate to optometry services.
  • Experience working in a medical office environment, preferably within an optometry setting, but practice can provide training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
