Job Summary

Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with intake procedures using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests such as visual acuity assessments, refraction measurements, and ocular photos.
- Maintain aseptic technique during clinical procedures to ensure infection control and patient safety in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist optometrists with diagnostic testing, including visual fields, oct testing, and erg testing.
- Assist in surgical procedures such as foreign body removal, stye removal and laser procedures such as SLT and YAG.
- Manage medical records accurately by updating charts, ensuring proper documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and billing codes related to optometry services.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, processing payments through retail math principles, and managing retail sales of contact lens products.
- Collaborate with the team on clinic operations, including inventory management of medical supplies and optical equipment.
- Educate patients about their eye health, treatment plans, and available optical products or retail items to promote overall wellness.
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy (especially ocular anatomy), physiology related to eye health, and basic medical coding/billing practices.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Crystal or other electronic health record platforms is essential for efficient documentation.
- Experience in patient care roles involving intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and maintaining HIPAA compliance is highly valued.
- Retail sales experience combined with strong math skills will be advantageous for managing contact lens product sales and inventory.
- Knowledge of pediatric care (pediatrics) is a plus for working with diverse patient populations in a clinical environment.
