Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations within our medical office, providing exceptional patient care while adhering to all regulatory standards. This position requires a blend of clinical and administrative skills to support our healthcare professionals and enhance the patient experience.
Duties
- Greet patients and manage front desk operations, ensuring a welcoming environment.
- Conduct patient intake, including gathering medical history and verifying insurance information.
- Measure and record vital signs accurately, maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, utilizing aseptic techniques as required.
- Maintain medical records and ensure proper documentation in EMR systems such as Epic.
- Provide support in scheduling appointments and managing clinic workflows efficiently.
- Handle medical billing and coding tasks as needed, ensuring accuracy in all transactions.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality patient care across various specialties, including pediatrics and ophthalmology.
- Utilize retail sales techniques when assisting patients with eyewear or other retail products.
Skills
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience with EMR systems; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security.
- Proficient in handling medical records, medical coding, and billing processes.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and staff.
- Retail math skills for managing sales transactions accurately.
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is highly desirable.
- Optical experience or knowledge of ophthalmology is an asset but not required.
