Optometric Technician / Medical Assistant/Front Office

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations within our medical office, providing exceptional patient care while adhering to all regulatory standards. This position requires a blend of clinical and administrative skills to support our healthcare professionals and enhance the patient experience.

Duties

  • Greet patients and manage front desk operations, ensuring a welcoming environment.
  • Conduct patient intake, including gathering medical history and verifying insurance information.
  • Measure and record vital signs accurately, maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, utilizing aseptic techniques as required.
  • Maintain medical records and ensure proper documentation in EMR systems such as Epic.
  • Provide support in scheduling appointments and managing clinic workflows efficiently.
  • Handle medical billing and coding tasks as needed, ensuring accuracy in all transactions.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality patient care across various specialties, including pediatrics and ophthalmology.
  • Utilize retail sales techniques when assisting patients with eyewear or other retail products.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Experience with EMR systems; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security.
  • Proficient in handling medical records, medical coding, and billing processes.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and staff.
  • Retail math skills for managing sales transactions accurately.
  • Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is highly desirable.
  • Optical experience or knowledge of ophthalmology is an asset but not required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $25.52 per hour
