Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team on Mondays, Thursdays, and half-day Saturdays with opportunities to go full-time in the future. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our optometrists. This position involves performing various clinical tasks, assisting with patient intake, and ensuring a smooth operation within the practice.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient intake procedures, including gathering ocular and medical history
- Assist optometrists with pretesting procedures prior to eye examinations
- Manage medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Utilize our EMR system, Compulink, for accurate documentation and patient management
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and post-examination instructions
- Support front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and handling contact lens sales transactions
- Collaborate with team members to enhance clinic efficiency and patient satisfaction
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Entry Level - on-the-job training will be provided
- Previous experience in patient care within an optometry or ophthalmology setting is preferred
- Familiarity with optometric terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and optometric coding/billing practices is preferred
- Experience with EMR systems; knowledge of Compulink is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a clinical environment while maintaining professionalism and empathy towards patients
