Duties

• Perform thorough eye examinations utilizing advanced diagnostic tools to assess vision and eye health
• Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and refractive errors
• Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, or other treatments tailored to patient needs
• Maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper use of eyewear or contact lenses
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
• Conduct pediatric eye exams and address specific needs related to pediatrics and developmental vision issues

Requirements

• Valid state licensure as an Optometrist with current certification to practice medicine in the designated area
• Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Experience working with optical equipment and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
• Ability to perform comprehensive eye exams including measuring vital signs relevant to ocular health
• Knowledge of medical coding practices related to eye care procedures and diagnoses
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
• Commitment to patient care excellence while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA privacy standards
• Experience in pediatrics is preferred but not required; a passion for caring for diverse patient populations is essential
