Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Operating Room (OR) Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures for pain management. Your expertise will ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes through meticulous assessment, aseptic techniques, and effective collaboration with surgeons and healthcare professionals. Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary sterile equipment, supplies, and instruments are ready for surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and managing surgical tools efficiently.
  • Monitor patient vital signs continuously during surgery using advanced monitoring systems and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications including anesthesia agents, analgesics, and other drugs as prescribed by the surgical team while adhering to aseptic technique standards.
  • Provide preoperative assessments and educate patients about procedures, post-operative care, and recovery expectations.
  • Document all aspects of patient care, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Support post-operative recovery by monitoring patients in the PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit), managing pain levels, and identifying complications early.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license with current registration to practice as an RN (Registered Nurse).
  • Proven OR experience with a strong background in aseptic technique and sterile processing protocols.
  • Experience working in diverse surgical environments including ophthalmology, trauma centers (Level I & II), ICU, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine settings.
  • Familiarity with advanced medical equipment.
  • Critical care experience including ICU or emergency room settings is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in high-stakes situations involving acute pain management or trauma medicine.
  • Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to surgery and anesthesia care.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and patient education.
  • Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required. Mind and Body Pain Clinic is a patient-centered specialty clinic in San Jose, CA dedicated to improving quality of life through innovative, compassionate pain management. Our surgical team provides a safe, efficient OR environment where every team member plays a critical role in patient outcomes.

Position overview

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Registered Nurse to serve as a Circulating RN in our Operating Room on a per diem basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an OR-experienced nurse seeking flexible, one-day-per-week work in a supportive outpatient setting.

Key responsibilities

Manage the OR environment and coordinate patient care activities throughout surgical procedures

Perform pre-op patient assessment, verify consents, and conduct time-out procedures

Maintain a safe, sterile field and ensure all safety protocols and AORN standards are followed

Collaborate with the surgeon and OR team to support efficient case flow

Accurately document intraoperative nursing care and patient records in the patient's chart

Requirements

Active California RN license in good standing

Minimum 1–2 years of circulating RN experience in a surgical OR setting required

Demonstrated ability to independently manage OR cases from patient entry through handoff

Current BLS and ACLS certification

Familiarity with pain management or outpatient surgical procedures a plus

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
