Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Oracle Exadata Database Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The role involves managing and maintaining the Oracle Exadata environment, ensuring high performance, security, and availability. The candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks such as installation, configuration, troubleshooting, optimization, and database security.
The candidate must be a U.S. citizen and be able to pass a background check.
Requirements
- Perform day-to-day operational maintenance, customer support, and program compliance.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle database administration, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in managing Exadata environments, including storage administration, Smart Scan, and Exadata-specific features.
- Solid understanding of database security principles (E.g.: TDE) and best practices.
- Experience with Oracle Exadata, Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and high availability solutions.
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) deployment, Configuring Baseline situations, monitoring and management tools
- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patches on Exadata.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and efficiency.
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data masking.
- Design and implement backup and recovery strategies for Exadata databases, ensuring data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
- Conduct capacity planning and resource utilization analysis for Oracle / Exadata environments.
- Knowledge on latest Oracle and Exadata technologies and best practices.
- Participate in the planning and execution of database migrations, upgrades, and consolidation projects.
- Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Participate in on-call rotation to support outages and occasional after-hours maintenance.
Preferred Education, & Skills
- BS degree with seven (7) years of related experience; four (4) years of IT experience accepted in lieu of a degree
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle Exadata
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written
- Familiarization with DISA STIG requirements
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, Shell, Python) for automation and task scripting.
- Active Secret security clearance
- Must possess CompTIA Security+ CE certification (or other IAT-II equivalent IAW 8750 requirements)
