Harmony Dental Implants & Oral Surgery is a modern, patient-centered oral surgery practice focused on delivering high-quality care with an exceptional patient experience. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Oral Surgery Assistant to join our fast-paced, team-driven environment.
Position Overview:
The Oral Surgery Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the surgeon during procedures, ensuring patient safety, maintaining efficiency, and upholding the highest clinical standards. This role requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgeon during oral surgery procedures, including extractions, implants, and full-arch (All-on-X) cases
- Set up and break down surgical rooms efficiently while maintaining strict infection control protocols
- Assist with and monitor patients under IV sedation, ensuring safety and comfort throughout procedures
- Prepare and maintain sedation equipment and emergency protocols
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date drug inventory, including sedation medications and supplies
- Place IV lines (preferred/required based on experience and certification)
- Take and review radiographs and assist with digital workflows as needed
- Ensure all instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready for use
- Support smooth patient flow in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Provide excellent patient care, including pre-op and post-op instructions
Qualifications:
- Previous oral surgery or dental assisting experience required
- Experience assisting with IV sedation strongly preferred
- Ability to place IV lines (or willingness to be trained)
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile technique
- Open Dental experience is a plus
- Current CPR/BLS certification required (ACLS preferred)
- DAANCE certification is a plus
