Responsibilities
- Prepares operatory/consult room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
- Provides information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests.
- Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for surgeon's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
- Provides diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies, pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
- Monitors patients under anesthesia by learning and becoming competent in the use of equipment necessary for monitoring vital signs and interpretation of vital signs.
- Helps oral surgeon manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
- Educates patients by giving and postoperative instructions.
- Documents services by charting in patient record.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or Oral Surgery Assistant within a dental clinic setting.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for medical documentation and record keeping.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe surgical assistance.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles and working with pediatric patients is preferred.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting including X-ray procedures, vital signs measurement, and four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and general health conditions affecting oral surgery patients.
- Certification in dental assisting or related fields; additional training in endodontics or prosthodontics is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and coordinate with the dental team. Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
