Oral Surgery Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will support surgeons and dental professionals during a variety of surgical procedures, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and safe environment for both patients and staff. Your expertise in chairside assisting, infection control, and medical documentation will help deliver exceptional patient care. Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to procedures, maintaining strict aseptic technique.
  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by handing instruments, retracting tissues, and managing operative tools efficiently.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, medical imaging results, and other relevant patient information during procedures.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of medical records, dental terminology, and procedural details in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as EMR systems, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic.
  • Support the use of advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and X-ray equipment while adhering to radiation safety protocols.
  • Maintain infection control standards by following HIPAA regulations and proper sterilization procedures for all instruments and surfaces.
  • Collaborate with the dental reception team to coordinate patient flow and ensure all medical documentation is complete and compliant with privacy laws.
  • Assist in pediatric dentistry procedures by providing compassionate support tailored to young patients’ needs.
  • Manage dental assisting tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing anesthesia supplies, and supporting general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatric dentistry cases as needed.
  • Educate patients on post-operative care instructions and answer questions regarding treatment plans or medical terminology.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is preferred but not require.
  • Experience specifically in surgical assisting is highly preferred but not required.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
