Responsibilities
Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and the surgical site with precision and efficiency. Ensure all medical documentation, including medical records and surgical notes, are accurately recorded in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Maintain strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and comply with HIPAA regulations. Support patients by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and ensuring their comfort throughout treatment. Operate dental imaging equipment, including X-ray machines and 3D scanners, to obtain high-quality images necessary for diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage dental supplies and sterilization processes to keep the clinic stocked with necessary materials for smooth operations. Collaborate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and manage medical documentation efficiently.
Qualifications
Previous experience in dental assisting or dental clinic settings is required, with a strong focus on oral surgery preferred. Proficiency in chairside assisting techniques, is essential for supporting efficient procedures. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is crucial for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Understanding of oral surgery principles and oral surgery patient management is advantageous. Ability to take X-ray images and operate medical imaging equipment confidently. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, team members, and external healthcare providers.
