Oral Surgery Dental Assistant

  • Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and relevant medical terminology to support accurate documentation

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a dental assistant in a dental clinic setting, preferably with exposure to oral surgery or general dentistry
  • Strong knowledge of dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, infection control, aseptic technique, and anatomy fundamentals
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation
  • Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently and safely
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about procedures and post-operative care
  • Certification in dental assisting or equivalent; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are a plus
  • Ability to handle medical documentation accurately while adhering to healthcare standards for medical coding and records management
  • Willingness to stay current on infection control practices and new technological advancements in dental imaging and surgical techniques
