Job Summary
Oral Surgery Plus is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to join our team. The position is 4 days per week. The ideal candidate will be energetic, patient-care-oriented, and friendly, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail. This position requires proficiency in various dental procedures, familiarity with dental terminology, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The Dental Assistant will support the dentist during treatments, manage patient records, and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
While oral surgery experience is preferred, a dental assisting background is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, including chairside assisting.
- Prepare and maintain dental instruments, ensuring they are sterilized and organized according to infection control protocols.
- Take and develop X-rays, utilizing knowledge of medical imaging techniques.
- Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR) using systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures, ensuring a comfortable environment for young patients.
- Support front office duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing medical documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment to promote safety and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a dental clinic setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as WinoMS, Epic or Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Commitment to infection control standards and maintaining patient confidentiality.
