Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Orthodontic Assistant to join our Orthodontic team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional chairside support, assist with patient care, and ensure smooth operations within our orthodontic practice. Position Details
- Pay: From $26.00 per hour
- Full-time Chairside Orthodontic Assistant
- Alternating schedule M–Th / T–F, giving you a 4-day weekend every other week
- 9.75-hour shifts
- Travel between Puyallup and Bonney Lake locations
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Orthodontic Chairside experience
- Proficient in Invisalign and iTero scanning
- Strong attendance and reliability required

Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and procedures, including placement and removal of braces and appliances
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans using advanced scanners
- Manage patient records using EMR systems ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide patient education on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene instructions
- Monitor vital signs as needed and assist with medical documentation related to patient health history
- Maintain infection control protocols and sterilization procedures in accordance with OSHA standards
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and assisting the patient care coordinator as needed
- Ensure proper handling of medical imaging equipment and maintain knowledge of dental terminology relevant to orthodontics and general dentistry
- Assist in the use of advanced technology including 3D scanners for treatment planning and appliance fabrication
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Orthodontic Assistant with knowledge of orthodontic procedures preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems Ortho2Edge is highly desirable
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures and operate medical imaging equipment safely
- Strong understanding of dental terminology related to orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatrics, and general dentistry
- Excellent chairside assisting skills with proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages and provide compassionate care
- Certification or training in dental assisting is required; additional certification in radiography or orthodontic assisting is a plus
- Knowledge of medical coding, medical documentation, and handling medical records is advantageous
- A proactive team player with attention to detail who can adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment
