Job Overview
We are GROWING and seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Orthodontic Assistant to join our orthodontic team. The ideal candidate will support orthodontic procedures, assist with patient care, and ensure smooth clinic operations. This role requires a strong understanding of orthodontic assisting techniques, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with orthodontic treatments. Prior experience in orthodontic clinics, especially knowledge on the Damon Ultima system, is highly valued. The Orthodontic Assistant will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care while maintaining compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontist during various procedures, including bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance fittings
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable
- Manage patient records using EMR systems ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions and post-treatment maintenance
- Perform chairside assisting using aseptic techniques to prevent infection control issues
- Record vital signs and medical history updates as needed for pediatric and general dentistry patients
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment following infection control protocols
- Stay updated on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and current orthodontic practices to provide optimal patient support
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems for medical documentation and records management
- Experience with dental imaging including X-ray procedures and 3D scanning technology
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry procedures
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in a fast-paced environment using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about orthodontic treatments and oral health maintenance
