Responsibilities
Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control standards. Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical histories, taking vital signs, and explaining treatment plans clearly to foster comfort and understanding. Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate images necessary for diagnosis and treatment planning. Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Implement aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure a sterile environment throughout the clinic. Coordinate with other team members in four-handed dentistry practices to optimize efficiency and deliver seamless patient care.
Skills
Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for scheduling, documentation, and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Experience with pediatric dentistry principles and providing care tailored for children is highly desirable. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately while maintaining safety standards. Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures and instructions clearly to patients of all ages. Familiarity with medical terminology related to dentistry and orthodontics enhances your ability to document effectively. Demonstrated competence in chairside assisting across general dentistry procedures such as endodontics, prosthodontics, and orthodontics.
