Orthodontic Dental Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, assisting orthodontists during procedures, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the practice. This position requires a strong understanding of dental practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with both patients and staff.

Duties

• Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including placing and removing braces and other orthodontic appliances.
• Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready for use.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care.
• Manage patient records and medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Ensure adherence to infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Schedule appointments and manage patient flow efficiently within the office.
• Collaborate with team members to provide high-quality patient care in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry practices relevant to orthodontics.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant or in a similar dental role is required. (5+ years of experience is ideal)
• Knowledge of Open Dental software is a plus but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with pediatric dentistry is advantageous for working with younger patients.
• Strong understanding of infection control procedures and general dental practices.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and team members.
• Ability to manage medical documentation accurately while adhering to HIPAA standards.
• A proactive attitude towards learning new techniques and improving patient care practices.
