Overview

We are seeking a skilled Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental assisting, with specific experience in orthodontic clinical procedures. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support patient care, assist with orthodontic treatments, and ensure smooth clinic operations through proficient use of dental software and equipment.

Duties

  • Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and orthodontic appliances in accordance with infection prevention management protocols.
  • Assist the orthodontist during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fitting.
  • Take and develop dental x-rays, including panoramic and cephalometric images, ensuring proper patient positioning and safety measures.
  • Manage patient records within electronic medical record (EMR) using Dolphin while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices related to orthodontic appliances, including proper brushing, flossing, and appliance care.
  • Process dental instruments through sterilization procedures following infection control standards to ensure clinical safety.
  • Support the front desk team by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments via patient management software, and handling general reception duties as needed.

Experience

  • Proven experience working as a dental assistant within an orthodontic setting.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems for managing medical documentation and records.
  • Knowledge of dental imaging techniques including panoramic and cephalometric.
  • Understanding of dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention policies, and aseptic techniques.
  • Experience assisting with complex orthodontic procedures like appliance placement, adjustments, and bonding
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
