Position Overview
Dr Hala Alsayed Health Training Center, the professional training arm of Dr Hala Alsayed Medical Group, is seeking to appoint a Programme Director for Orthodontics to lead and oversee a postgraduate orthodontic programme aligned with the standards of one of the UK Royal Colleges.
The Programme Director will provide academic, clinical, and governance leadership, ensuring the programme meets international postgraduate training benchmarks and supports candidates preparing for Royal College–affiliated orthodontic membership examinations.
This is a senior leadership role central to the training center’s accreditation strategy, academic credibility, and long-term programme sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Leadership & Governance
- Provide overall academic and strategic leadership for the orthodontics programme
- Serve as the principal academic lead for accreditation, inspection, and quality assurance processes
- Ensure compliance with Royal College–aligned postgraduate education standards
- Lead programme governance meetings, academic reviews, and reporting activities
2. Curriculum Design & Oversight
- Design, structure, and continuously review the orthodontics curriculum
- Ensure curriculum alignment with specialist orthodontic competencies and learning outcomes
- Oversee integration of didactic teaching, clinical exposure, case-based discussions, and examination preparation
- Ensure curriculum reflects contemporary, evidence-based orthodontic practice
3. Assessment & Examination Preparation
- Lead academic preparation pathways for Royal College orthodontic membership examinations
- Oversee formative assessments, mock examinations, and candidate progress monitoring
- Ensure assessment methodologies meet postgraduate standards of fairness, validity, and reliability
4. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Implement and monitor internal quality assurance systems
- Review trainee feedback, performance data, and outcome measures
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in line with accreditation and benchmarking requirements
5. Faculty & Trainer Oversight
- Support the selection, orientation, and academic calibration of orthodontic faculty
- Ensure faculty alignment with programme standards, learning outcomes, and assessment frameworks
- Promote a culture of academic excellence, mentorship, and professionalism
6. Trainee Support & Mentorship
- Provide academic guidance and professional mentorship to orthodontic trainees
- Oversee trainee progression, remediation planning, and academic support where required
- Foster an environment that promotes ethical practice, professionalism, and lifelong learning
Essential Eligibility Requirements
- Fellow or Member in Orthodontics of one of the UK Royal Colleges
- Recognised Specialist in Orthodontics with active clinical practice
- Significant experience in postgraduate orthodontic education or specialist training
- Demonstrated academic or clinical leadership experience
- Strong understanding of postgraduate orthodontic assessment and competency frameworks
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience as a programme director, course lead, or examiner
- Prior involvement in Royal College–aligned training or examination preparation (preferable)
- Experience in academia
- Experience contributing to accreditation, regulatory, or institutional quality assurance processes
- Academic contributions including teaching, publications, or research supervision
