Orton-Gillingham Reading Teacher (Part-Time Independent Contractor)

Reading Results Tutoring, Inc. – Primarily In-Person in Newburgh, NY

Reading Results Tutoring, Inc. is seeking a certified teacher with formal Orton-Gillingham training to provide structured literacy instruction to students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.

This position is primarily in-person at our Newburgh, NY location.

Applicants should be located within commuting distance of Newburgh, NY. While limited online tutoring opportunities may be available, the majority of our students are seen in person.

Position Responsibilities:

This position is specifically for educators who:

• Hold a teaching certification or are currently pursuing certification
• AND
• Have completed formal Orton-Gillingham training or are actively enrolled in an accredited Orton-Gillingham training/practicum program

Applicants without a teaching background or formal Orton-Gillingham training will not be considered for this position.

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized Orton-Gillingham/structured literacy instruction to students from Pre-K through high school
• Deliver multisensory, diagnostic, and prescriptive reading instruction
• Maintain student session notes and progress monitoring
• Communicate professionally with families and staff
• Collaborate with the Reading Results Tutoring team to maintain instructional fidelity

Qualifications:

• Teaching certification preferred (Special Education, Reading, Elementary Education, Literacy, or related field)
• Associate Level Orton-Gillingham certification/training preferred (A/OG or equivalent), or currently enrolled in a practicum-based certification pathway
• Experience working with students with dyslexia or reading difficulties preferred
• Strong understanding of structured literacy practices
• Professional, dependable, organized, and student-centered

Position Details:

• Part-time independent contractor position (1099)
• Flexible afternoon/evening hours
• Primarily in-person tutoring in Newburgh, NY
