OT INCHARGE / SCRUB NURSE

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership (OT Incharge)

• Workflow Management: Oversee daily OT operations, including scheduling surgeries, assigning staff, and managing turnaround times.
• Inventory & Equipment: Manage the procurement, maintenance, and sterilization of surgical instruments and consumables.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to NABH, healthcare regulations, and infection control protocols.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate, comprehensive records of procedures, patient consent, and sterilization logs.
• Training: Supervise and mentor nursing staff and technicians, including training on new techniques and technologies.

2. Clinical Care (Scrub Nurse)

• Sterile Field Maintenance: Perform surgical scrubbing, gowning, and gloving, and maintain a strict aseptic environment.
• Instrument Handling: Prepare, organize, and pass instruments, sutures, and implants to the surgeon.
• Surgical Counts: Perform accurate, documented counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures.
• Anticipation: Proactively anticipate the surgeon’s needs to maintain a steady flow during the operation.

Qualification:

• Education: B.Sc. Nursing or GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery).
• Registration: Valid registration with the State Nursing Council.
• Experience: 2–5 years of experience in an operating theatre.

Required Skills

• Leadership: Strong ability to manage staff, resolve conflicts, and make quick decisions under pressure.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of surgical procedures, instruments, and anesthesia.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy for patient safety and sterilization protocols.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to coordinate between surgeons, anesthesiologists, and ward staff.
