OT Nurse - Manipal Hospital, Mysore

Job description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments and equipment.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and other items needed during surgery.
• Maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict aseptic techniques throughout the procedure.
• Count surgical instruments and materials (e.g., sponges, needles) before and after the procedure to ensure nothing is left inside the patient.
• Monitor the patient’s condition during surgery in collaboration with the circulating nurse and anesthetist.
• Support the surgical team in positioning the patient and ensuring proper draping.
• Ensure proper labeling and handling of specimens.
• Assist with post-operative care and equipment sterilization.
• Collaborate with the surgical and perioperative team for smooth case flow.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to surgical procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Registered Nurse (RN) license (as per local/regional requirements).
• Scrub nurse training or operating theatre experience required.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in high-pressure environments.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and preferably Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
