OT Staff Nurse & Technician

Roles and Responsibilities of OT Staff Nurse1. Pre-Operative Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity, consent forms, and surgical site as per checklist
• Prepare the OT according to the scheduled procedure
• Ensure availability and sterility of instruments, linen, sutures, and consumables
• Assist in pre-operative patient preparation (positioning, skin prep, draping)
• Check functioning of OT equipment (lights, suction, cautery, monitors)
• Maintain aseptic environment and follow infection control protocols

2. Intra-Operative Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during procedures as Scrub Nurse or Circulating Nurse
• Maintain strict sterile technique throughout the surgery
• Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies accurately and timely
• Perform surgical counts (sponges, needles, instruments) before, during, and after surgery
• Monitor patient safety and report any abnormality immediately
• Handle specimens properly and send to laboratory with correct labeling

3. Post-Operative Responsibilities

• Assist in safe transfer of patient to recovery room (PACU)
• Monitor patient condition until handover is completed
• Ensure proper documentation of OT records and nursing notes
• Clean, disinfect, and prepare OT for next case
• Arrange instruments for decontamination and sterilization

4. Equipment & Sterilization Management

• Ensure proper cleaning, packing, and autoclaving of instruments
• Monitor sterility indicators and maintain sterilization records
• Report malfunctioning equipment for repair or replacement
• Maintain OT inventory and request supplies as required

5. Infection Control & Safety

• Adhere strictly to hospital infection control policies
• Follow biomedical waste segregation and disposal rules
• Ensure OT safety standards (fire safety, electrical safety)
• Use PPE appropriately and ensure compliance among OT staff

6. Documentation & Coordination

• Maintain OT registers, surgical checklists, and patient records
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, technicians, and ward nurses
• Communicate effectively during shift handovers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
