Job Summary

KC Logistics is seeking a dynamic, results-driven OTR Fleet Manager to join our leadership team in Princeton, IN. This critical role oversees the execution and performance of our long-haul transportation operations, serving as the key connection between internal fleet operations and our external carrier network.

Key Responsibilities Fleet & Dispatch Management

• Manage long-haul drivers and oversee daily dispatch operations across the KC Terminal Network
• Optimize route planning to maximize efficiency and align with company objectives
• Forecast driver and equipment needs based on freight volume and market conditions
• Maintain oversight of trailer fleet utilization, ensuring proper allocation to meet demand

Carrier Relations & Negotiation

• Build and manage relationships with outside carrier partners
• Negotiate rates and service expectations to ensure cost-effective, reliable performance
• Act as the primary contact for carrier issues, resolving time-sensitive challenges such as missed pickups or delays

Network Communication & Support

• Serve as a central communication hub across terminals, drivers, and partners
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve coverage gaps, driver shortages, and equipment needs
• Identify operational inefficiencies and guide improvements to meet scheduling and service standards

Performance & Strategy

• Monitor and manage fleet performance to meet and exceed key KPIs
• Handle operational exceptions with urgency, including delays and surge support needs
• Provide regular updates to the Director of Operations on fleet status, network health, and improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Proven experience in OTR/long-haul fleet management or logistics operations
• Strong understanding of route optimization and terminal network coordination
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage external carrier relationships
• Skilled in handling high-pressure, real-time operational challenges
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect internal teams and external partners
• Data-driven mindset with a focus on performance metrics and continuous improvement
