Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Outpatient Primary Care Medical Coder, where your expertise in medical coding and billing will be vital in ensuring accurate documentation and reimbursement for outpatient primary care services. This role offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your detailed knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and electronic health record (EHR) systems to support high-quality patient care and operational efficiency. You will play a key role in translating clinical documentation into precise codes, facilitating seamless billing processes, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties
- Review and analyze outpatient clinical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes
- Ensure accurate coding for diagnoses, procedures, and services based on medical records and provider notes
- Collaborate with medical billing teams to facilitate timely and accurate claims submission
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance
- Conduct audits of medical records to verify coding accuracy and identify areas for process improvement
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) and EHR systems efficiently for data entry, coding, and documentation management
- Support medical collections processes by ensuring proper coding that reflects the services provided
Experience
- Proven experience in outpatient medical coding within a primary care setting
- Strong understanding of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and DRG classifications
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures and medical collection practices
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems used in outpatient clinics or primary care offices. Our office uses eClinicalWorks.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical records management
- Previous work involving medical coding audits or quality assurance is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to interpret complex clinical documentation
Pay: $22.55 - $27.16 per hour
