LightWorks Counseling & Wellness is seeking an experienced licensed outpatient therapist to help shape a new program rooted in 125-year legacy of impact.


Who We Are

LightWorks Counseling & Wellness by Shineforth provides high-quality, individualized care to children, teens, young adults, and their caregivers.

We lead with compassion, avoid judgment, and meet individuals and families where they are.

As part of Shineforth’s long-standing nonprofit mission, LightWorks expands access to outpatient mental health care through a blend of in-person and telehealth services. This launch-phase program offers clinicians the opportunity to help build a growing service line, with plans to expand into a multidisciplinary model that includes therapy, psychiatry, and specialized services.


What We Do

LightWorks Counseling and Wellness offers the following services to children, teens, young adults, parents & caregivers

  • Individual Therapy
  • Family Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Medication Management

Who We Serve

  • Children & Teens (Ages 5–18)
  • Young Adults (Ages 19–26)
  • Parents & Caregivers

Outpatient Therapist Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate with the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and multidisciplinary team to support integrated, whole-person care
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with agency, licensing, and insurance standards
  • Provide client and caregiver education, care coordination, and appropriate referrals
  • Respond to crisis situations in alignment with agency protocols
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development

We serve a diverse client base and maintain a balanced payor mix, including Medicaid, private insurance, and self-pay, reflecting our commitment to accessibility while sustaining a strong and equitable caseload model for clinicians.


Who We Need

Someone who’s more than licensed - you’re invested about the population we serve and want to work in a highly motivated and collaborative team environment.

We’re seeking a clinician who is:

  • Master’s Level and Licensed (LCSW, LPC, or LCP in Virginia)
  • May have advanced certifications or specialty training (EMDR, Registered Play Therapist, etc.)
  • Strong documentation and technology proficiency
  • Growth-oriented and prioritizes evidence-based practices
  • Committed to exceptional client care and customer service
  • Embraces Collaborative Problem Solving
  • Energized by helping launch and grow a new program

Schedule & Expectations

We are open to a range of hours and part-time schedules, with flexibility based on candidate availability and program needs during our launch phase. We prioritize sustainable caseloads and offer compensation support as your caseload builds.

  • Minimum availability: 2 days per week in person
  • One evening per week until 7:00 PM
  • Caseload expectations are aligned with schedule
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical documentation systems required
