POSITION SUMMARY
The Outreach and Education Advocate is responsible for developing and delivering prevention-focused educational programs for middle and high school students throughout North Idaho. This role also engages diverse audiences—including young adults, parents, professionals, and community members—with the goal of increasing awareness, promoting prevention, and fostering safe, healthy relationships. Key topics include Safe Passage services, healthy relationships, digital abuse, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence. The Advocate also builds community partnerships, supports outreach initiatives, and helps expand access to services and resources.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (not an exhaustive List):
Prevention and Education
Deliver educational programming to youth, parents, school administrators, and staff on topics including healthy relationships, dating violence, bystander intervention, online safety, and sexual assault to promote safety and prevent violence.
Provide training and education to professionals, service providers, and community members on issues related to dating violence, and sexual assault, including available resources and referral processes.
Engage teens and community members in efforts to create positive social change, foster healthy relationships, and build compassionate, violence-free communities.
Increase awareness of Safe Passage’s mission, programs, and services to expand community knowledge, referrals, and access to support.
Promote community-wide awareness and understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, and related issues.
Partnerships
Serve as a liaison between Safe Passage and community partners, providing education and outreach as needed.
Build and maintain partnerships with schools, organizations, and community groups to expand prevention efforts.
Evaluate existing partnerships and identify opportunities to enhance and expand Safe Passage services within the community.
General Responsibilities
Attend required trainings and maintain training hours in accordance with grant and program requirements.
Adhere to all agency policies and procedures, including strict confidentiality standards.
Provide education on Safe Passage services to community members, partners, and staff.
Offer advocacy and support to survivors of violence in both office settings and at community events or presentations.
Develop and manage social media content related to services, education, and volunteer engagement.
Participate in 2–3 hospital response shifts per month.
Assist with community events and outreach activities as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field plus one (1) year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of leadership experience. Ability to stay focused and work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure work environment.
Experience with trauma-informed services for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, including children.
Strong verbal and written communications skills, including public speaking and facilitating meaningful discussions on difficult/sensitive topics.
Ability to develop trusted, professional, and collaborative working relationships with survivors.
Must complete and stay up to date with required Crisis Intervention Training (32 hours.)
Must complete and stay up to date with required Advocacy Training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described in this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee (with or without a reasonable accommodation) to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: This job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Approximately 30% of time will be spent towards driving/travel, including travel to rural areas (up to 50 miles outside of Coeur d’Alene). Driving/travel includes visiting homes, offices of healthcare and social service providers, courtrooms, classrooms, and schools, including during early hours, evening hours, and weekends as needed. This position occasionally works in high stress environments with children, family, and personnel situations. Requires lifting of up to 25lbs. is required on an occasional basis.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
