Salary: $45,000 – $50,000 per year
Position Overview:
P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc. is seeking a full-time Outreach Counselor to support our mission of strengthening families by providing resources, skills, support, and advocacy that promote positive parenting. This position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week.
The Outreach Counselor works with families referred by Child Welfare Services (CWS) with the goal of promoting safe and stable family environments and reducing the risk of child abuse and neglect.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary case coordinator for assigned families
- Engage clients and build supportive relationships
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify family needs
- Develop and implement individualized service plans
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to families
- Deliver individual, couple, or family counseling
- Provide parenting skill-building and model appropriate parent-child interactions
- Connect families with community resources and make referrals when appropriate
Sessions may take place in the office, in the family’s home, or within the community.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate effectively with management, administration, coworkers, and program participants to maintain quality services
- Work effectively with diverse individuals, community groups, and systems of care
- Demonstrate strong self-motivation and the ability to work independently
- Adhere to all agency policies and contractual requirements
- Participate in group and individual supervision and be open to feedback
- Complete all required documentation and reports in a timely manner according to agency and contract deadlines
- Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
- Demonstrate professionalism, organization, honesty, and ethical conduct when working with staff and program participants
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with:
- Parents or caregivers who have harmed or are at risk of harming their children
- Children who have experienced or are at risk of abuse, trauma, or loss
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with domestic violence cases
- Experience with substance abuse issues
- Experience with permanency planning
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel to surrounding communities
- Must maintain appropriate motor vehicle insurance as required by the agency and contractual obligations
