Be part of our fun, energetic Youth team this summer by supporting staff at in-house library programs and providing storytimes at local summer schools. You will also engage with the community by getting children excited about reading while helping at our summer reading desk. This position is a great opportunity for those interested in gaining public library experience and/or experience working with kids.
SCHEDULE: This is temporary position for approximately 10 weeks, starting the week of May 25 through the week of July 27.
SALARY: $16.96 per hour

PURPOSE
The Youth Summer Outreach Assistant works with an energetic, creative, and collaborative team dedicated to providing high quality services to children from birth through 6th grade and their parents, teachers, and caregivers. The Summer Outreach Assistant presents storytimes at childcare centers, summer schools, and other community locations; assists with in-house programming; and staffs the summer reading desk.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Present storytimes for preschoolers and early elementary school students
Assists staff at in-house events
Assist patrons at the public service desk with the summer reading program
Prepares and organizes materials for the outreach and in-house summer reading programs
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma preferred. Experience with or receiving educational training for children ages 3-8 required.
