Sedlock Insurance Agency is a boutique, family-owned independent insurance brokerage based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. THE ROLE

We're hiring an Outside Sales Agent to grow our agency through relationships. The majority of your client interactions will happen by phone and video from our Chattanooga office — running quotes, walking clients through their options, and writing new business across personal lines, commercial, and life. The engine that drives this role, though, is the time you spend out in the community: building referral partnerships face-to-face with local centers of influence (realtors, mortgage brokers, CPAs, attorneys, contractors) and showing up at networking groups, chamber events, and industry meetings around Chattanooga.

This role is a great fit for someone who's energized by people, plays a long game with relationships, and cares about doing the right thing for the client every single time. You'll write personal lines, commercial, and life business — with a particular emphasis on the relationship-driven accounts that thrive on a consultative, advisory approach.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Build and nurture referral relationships face-to-face with realtors, lenders, CPAs, attorneys, builders, and other centers of influence
  • Represent Sedlock Insurance Agency at networking groups, chamber events, community functions, and industry meetings around Chattanooga
  • Run discovery conversations and present options to prospects and clients — most by phone and video, in person when it makes sense
  • Conduct risk reviews for commercial prospects and present recommendations clearly
  • Run quotes across multiple carriers in personal lines, commercial, and life
  • Educate clients on coverage so they make informed decisions — not pressured ones
  • Round accounts and write multi-line business with new and existing clients
  • Maintain an organized pipeline in our agency management system and follow up consistently
  • Partner with our inside sales and service team for smooth handoffs and great client experience

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Strong relationship-builder — likable, trustworthy, and genuinely interested in people
  • Self-motivated and disciplined; you can manage your own calendar and pipeline without someone over your shoulder
  • Comfortable presenting one-on-one or in front of a small group, in person or on the phone
  • Engaged in the Chattanooga community (or eager to become so)
  • Honest, dependable, and coachable
  • Aligned with our values — service-first, integrity, treating people the way you'd want to be treated
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent required Insurance experience and a Tennessee Property & Casualty (and/or Life) license are great if you have them — but not required. We're happy to sponsor licensing for the right person and will support you through the process. Prior outside sales, business development, or commercial lines experience is a plus.
