Position Summary

The Outside Parts Sales Representative is responsible for developing and growing wholesale and commercial parts business outside the dealership. This role serves as the primary liaison between the dealership’s Parts Department and external customers including independent repair shops, body shops, fleet accounts, and other commercial buyers. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated sales professional with deep knowledge of Ford and automotive parts who thrives in a customer-facing, territory-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Prospect, develop, and maintain relationships with wholesale accounts, independent repair facilities, body shops, and fleet customers within an assigned territory.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and annual outside sales quotas as set by the Parts Manager.
  • Conduct regular in-person visits to existing and potential accounts; maintain a consistent call schedule.
  • Present and promote Ford Motorcraft parts, accessories, and dealership services to drive revenue growth.
  • Identify new business opportunities and convert prospects into active accounts.
  • Prepare and deliver competitive pricing proposals and quotations in a timely manner.

Customer Service & Account Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve customer concerns, order discrepancies, and parts returns promptly and professionally.
  • Communicate parts availability, pricing, and lead times accurately to customers.
  • Coordinate with the counter staff and parts team to ensure timely delivery and order fulfillment.
  • Build long-term, trust-based relationships that promote customer loyalty and repeat business.

Operations & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, account visits, pipeline, and customer data using the dealership’s CRM system.
  • Provide weekly activity reports and sales forecasts to the Parts Manager.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor pricing, and customer feedback to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Work closely with the Parts Manager to develop promotional campaigns and sales strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer programs, and pricing guidelines.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 2 years of automotive parts sales experience, preferably in a wholesale or outside sales capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of Ford, Lincoln, and general automotive parts, systems, and terminology.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals in a territory-based role.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel within assigned territory daily.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize a high-volume workload.
  • Proficiency with computer systems; experience with dealership management software (DMS) is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred

  • Ford Motor Company Parts & Service training certifications (e.g., Ford STARS, Motorcraft certification).
  • Established relationships with local independent repair shops or fleet accounts.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus in applicable markets.
