About the Role – New England Territory
If you have a knowledge and passion for plants, love to learn and continuously improve, and enjoy the sales experience and working with others, then we would love for you to join our team. We are seeking an Outside Sales team member for our New England territory. As a Monrovia Outside Sales representative, you will be responsible for increasing sales by building upon relationships with our current customers and helping prospective customers understand the Monrovia brand more fully as they work to meet their sales goal.
What You’ll Do
You will…
- maintain relationships with garden center buyers by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; and recommending profit and service improvements on a weekly basis.
- partner with your customers strategically to help them increase their profitability through effective use of the Monrovia brand.
- collect and analyze data to forecast store orders, trends, opportunities, and manage stores’ inventory.
- travel within your region to call upon current and prospective customers, tour nursery locations and attend trade shows.
- collaborate with your inside sales group to execute your team strategy and meet your sales goal.
- work directly with the garden centers to resolve any shipping or credit issues.
- continue to learn about industry trends and the plants we grow.
- help promote brand awareness by presenting marketing and sales strategies to customers and colleagues periodically.
- support our company values in the way you communicate with customers and your fellow team members.
Who You Are
You…
- have a minimum of an associate or bachelor’s degree in horticulture or landscape design.
- bring at least 2 years of experience in sales in the horticultural marketplace and or sales management in the garden center industry.
- demonstrate excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- are proficient in the Microsoft 365 Suite with a strong background in Excel and can learn and utilize technology including working within our Oracle Cloud Sales system.
- have good math skills.
- are good at planning, executing, and meeting goals.
- are open to feedback and take action as required.
- have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record so you can drive around the nursery as needed and maintain full automobile insurance with collision and comprehensive coverage with liability limits not less than those required by applicable state law.
- can maneuver around a garden center, work on a computer and with a telephone, and can lift up to 35 pounds on occasion, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- are open to relocation to the assigned territory.
Benefits at Monrovia

- earn a base salary equal to $75,000 per year plus will be eligible to earn a commission as a percentage of net sales for sales of authorized plants and products in your territory.
