Outside Sales Representative - CNC Machine Shop

This position acts as the technical bridge between our machining capabilities and the needs of manufacturing customers. It is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, providing technical consultations, and closing sales for CNC machining services.

The position would ideally suit talented CNC machinists and programmers who are looking to transition their career from the production floor to a professional sales role. The role will partner with internal sales and support professionals to support customer initiatives and technical needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and qualify new leads through cold calling, networking and industry events to expand our customer base.
  • Manage existing accounts and act as long-term advocate for customers, ensuring satisfaction and identifying opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.
  • Consult customers to understand their production needs, material requirements and part specifications to recommend the right CNC solutions.
  • Prepare detailed technical proposals and price quotations after coordinating with internal resources to ensure feasibility and margin targets.
  • Actively engage with internal sales and support team members to provide added value and positive end-to-end customer experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, forecasts and customer interactions.
  • Conduct on-site and virtual demonstrations of our CNC equipment and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Represent and promote Mountain CNC at tradeshows, conferences and other events.

Requirements and Skills:

  • 3-5 Years of experience in the machining industry or technical sales.
  • Customer focused mindset with a passion for problem solving and delivering exceptional service.
  • Understanding of CNC operations and the ability to speak the “language” of machinists and engineers.
  • Proven ability to handle full sales cycle for low volume, high complexity machining opportunities.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to shop-floor operators, internal sales teams and executive-level decision makers.
  • Outstanding communications skills and a collaborative team player.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time to meet or exceed goals.
  • A technical degree or background in mechanical engineering is preferred.
  • Requires travel and overnight stays. It is expected that the successful candidate will spend up to 80% of their time in the field with customers and prospects.

Compensation:

  • Range $60k - $90k plus performance bonus.

Additional:

Position requires exposure to ITAR-controlled data. As such, employment is contingent meeting the US Person definition (22CFR §120.15).

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
