Dubai British School Emirates Hills is recruiting an outstanding Teacher of English & Media Studies, commencing August 2026, to join our BSO and KHDA-rated 'Outstanding' international school.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an outstanding teacher of English and Media Studies with the ability to teach GCSE and A Level, delivering lessons that develop deep literary understanding, strong analytical writing and confident media literacy. You will guide students to analyse complex texts, construct sophisticated arguments and produce high-quality practical coursework across film, audio, print and digital media. We want a teacher with a proven track record of strong results who can blend academic rigour with creative production, fostering critical thinking, communication and originality. The ability to inspire curiosity, support high attainers and enable all learners to engage confidently with both language and media is essential.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is modelled on the National Curriculum for England and adapted to our own international context, leading to a challenging set of GCSE, BTEC and GCE A Level courses from Year 10 to Year 13. We feel the opportunities that students enjoy outside the classroom are just as important as the main curriculum and we offer an extensive and varied Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) programme.

Professional Requirements

Due to KHDA regulations, we only employ individuals with approved teacher status as well as a degree in their teaching subject area.

  • High Quality Degree in English, Media Studies or a related field (Must be MOFA Attested).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (Must be MOFA Attested).
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in the National Curriculum for England in the UK or UAE.
  • GCSE and A Level English and/or Media Studies teaching experience - Essential.
  • Ability to teach consistently inspirational lessons and a track record of outstanding results.
  • A commitment to the wellbeing of all students within their care.
  • A willingness to make a broader contribution to school life.
  • The ability to quickly adapt to a fast-paced international, multicultural and demanding environment.
  • An individual with confidence and a proven track record of outstanding results as a leading subject teacher.
  • Cleared Police and Safeguarding Background Checks .

These opportunities are shared monthly and are targeted at all staff, new and returning.
