Overhead Door Technician

Position Summary

The Commercial Door Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, and retrofit of commercial door systems, including overhead doors, hollow metal doors, storefront systems, and related hardware. This role works in the field to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure all systems operate safely and efficiently while delivering high-quality service to customers.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Service

  • Install, service, and repair commercial door systems including:
  • Overhead/sectional doors
  • Rolling steel doors and grilles
  • Hollow metal and storefront doors
  • Door hardware (closers, hinges, locks, panic bars, etc.)
  • Perform retrofits and upgrades to existing door systems
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on customer equipment

Troubleshooting & Repairs

  • Diagnose mechanical and operational issues with doors and hardware
  • Repair or replace defective components such as springs, tracks, rollers, operators, and hardware
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with industry standards

Customer Service

  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding issues, solutions, and recommendations
  • Provide professional, timely service in the field
  • Identify and communicate additional service or repair opportunities

Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete work orders, service reports, and job documentation accurately and promptly
  • Record labor, materials, and job notes for each service call
  • Maintain company vehicle inventory and ensure proper parts usage

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and company vehicle

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial door installation and service (or related trade)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with overhead doors, rolling steel doors, and door hardware required
  • Basic knowledge of access control or automatic door systems is a plus
  • Ability to read work orders, basic blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
