Are you in? Primary Purpose:
The OHT Line Mechanic is responsible for the construction, maintenance and service of all aerial Transmission facilities, and performing switching and blocking of transmission equipment.
Primary Duties:

Work includes climbing utility distribution poles as well as transmission towers/poles and working out of aerial equipment.

Work environment is outdoors under all weather conditions and requires operating various types of mechanized equipment and vehicles and can involve work on energized electrical equipment.

Working in emergency and storm situations is required as is being available for scheduled overtime and shift work.

Work for emergencies, storm situations, and scheduled work will routinely include working weekends and holidays on different shifts.

Upon completion of progression training, employees will work throughout the PECO service territory and may be called upon to work elsewhere on the Exelon system or in a mutual aid capacity for other utilities.

Employee will be required to remain in compliance with all DOT safe weight guidelines for equipment use and maintaining a CDL.
Job Scope:
This is an Advanced and Apprentice hire position and final employment decisions will be determined by meeting the job qualifications above, in addition to successfully completing and passing all pre-employment aptitude tests, training assessments, medical evaluations and physicals; including but not limited to: - pre-employment transmission skills assessments administered by the PECO Training Department
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Driver's license and have the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 3 months of beginning employment

Possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
-
Passed the EEI Aptitude Qualifying exam (CAST Test)

Have a minimum of 3 years' experience as either a Journeyman Electrical Lineman OR as a PECO Journeyman Aerial Line Mechanic

Proficient at operating various types of mechanized equipment and vehicles
-
Able to lift 50 pounds
-
Ability to climb utility distribution poles (to 90 feet) and transmission structures (to 320 feet) as well as work out of aerial equipment (bucket trucks and or high lift trucks with baskets)

Ability to work in confined and enclosed spaces and outside under all weather conditions
-
Ability to perform live line glove-hand and hot-stick work as needed

Ability to work on energized electrical equipment
Advance pay $56.48 (first year) $59.25 (thereafter)
Apprentices pay $26.77 (pay progression)
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Hire TLM.

Previous experience with construction and or maintenance of electrical transmission distribution equipment.

Formal training in electrical theory involving voltage induction and grounding of transmission circuits and primary secondary distribution circuits
- Previous experience working at heights
- Successfully completed the Northeastern Apprenticeship Training (NEAT Certificate) OR the PECO Distribution Aerial Line School
TLM Apprentice.
- Experience with construction and or maintenance of electrical transmission distribution equipment.

Previous experience working at heights.
- Secondary restoration experience.
- Training in electrical theory involving primary or secondary distribution.

Ability to work on energized electrical equipment

Required to work in emergency and storm situations.
- Must be available for overtime and shift work.

- Complete and pass formal training in electrical theory involving primary and secondary voltages.
- Complete and pass formal training in Electrical Emergency (EEMG) training.
- Must be in compliance with all safe weight guidelines for equipment.
