Overnight Med Tech

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for assisting residents with their medication needs while providing compassionate, high-quality care. This role involves administering prescribed medications, monitoring resident health, and ensuring compliance with medication protocols and facility policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medication Administration:

    • Administer oral, topical, inhaled, and other forms of medication as prescribed by a physician.

    • Follow proper procedures for medication administration, including checking the resident’s identity and verifying medication orders.

    • Maintain accurate medication administration records (MAR) and report any discrepancies.

  • Resident Monitoring:

    • Monitor residents for any adverse reactions or side effects related to medications.

    • Report any changes in residents' conditions or concerns to the nursing staff or healthcare provider promptly.

    • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, including mobility, grooming, and personal hygiene.

  • Medication Management:

    • Ensure that medications are stored safely and securely according to facility guidelines.

    • Prepare medications for administration and ensure proper documentation.

  • Communication and Documentation:

    • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and other healthcare team members regarding medication and health status.

    • Document medication administration, observations, and any other relevant information accurately and timely.

  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations related to medication administration and healthcare.

    • Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

    • Complete required training and maintain certification in medication administration.

  • Professionalism:

    • Provide compassionate, respectful, and attentive care to residents.

    • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.

    • Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of residents.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Current certification as a Medication Aide (CMA) as required by state regulations.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a state-approved medication aide training program.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare or assisted living setting is preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of medication administration and related procedures.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

    • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transfer residents as needed.

  • Capability to stand, walk, and perform various physical tasks throughout the shift.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a variety of settings including resident rooms, medication rooms, and common areas.

  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases, requiring adherence to safety protocols.

  • Requires every other weekend shifts depending on facility needs.
