Overnight Pet Sitter (In-Home, Flexible Schedule)

This position involves staying overnight in clients’ homes to care for their pets while they are away. Whether it’s a calm evening with a single pet or managing multiple animals in a busy household, your role is to provide consistent care, comfort, and security.

Position Overview

As an Overnight Pet Sitter, you will be responsible for ensuring pets remain safe, comfortable, and well cared for in their home environment. Assignments typically range from one night to extended stays, depending on client needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Stay overnight in clients’ homes (typically 6–7 PM to 6–7 AM)
• Feed pets, walk dogs, clean litter boxes, and maintain routines
• Administer medications when required
• Monitor pets for changes in behavior or health
• Maintain a clean and secure home environment
• Provide regular updates to clients and communicate with the team

Scheduling & Availability

• Overnight shifts (approximately 12 hours)
• Assignments may range from single-night bookings to multi-day stays
• Ideal for candidates with flexible schedules

Service Area & Transportation

To reduce travel time and maximize scheduling efficiency, applicants should live in or near:
Newington, Portsmouth, Greenland, Stratham, North Hampton, New Castle, or Rye.

• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required
• Comfortable driving in varying weather conditions
• Able to transport pets if necessary in emergency situations

Pet Care Skills

We are looking for candidates who can:

• Safely handle and walk dogs up to 120 lbs
• Recognize common signs of stress, illness, or discomfort in pets
• Work confidently with dogs, cats, and small caged animals
• Respond calmly and effectively in unexpected situations

Work Environment

This role involves staying in different homes, so adaptability and respect for client property are essential. Professionalism and discretion are required at all times.

Communication

• Maintain clear, friendly, and professional communication with clients
• Build trust through reliability and consistency
• Coordinate effectively with team members
• Use a smartphone app for scheduling and updates

Requirements

• Ability to commit to ongoing, long-term work
• Pass a background check
• Previous pet care experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accountability
